I am ashamed to admit that I have never tasted a fig in my entire life. This statement still holds true today. I used apples in mine as I am sure a lot of other TWD-ers did as well.
One day I will get around to baking with this with figs, but for now this was a delicious alternative.

You can't really go wrong with caramel apple. That looks so good!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great alternative. I am 56 tomorrow and still have not tasted a fig. I feel like I've lived a pretty well rounded life without figs.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
love the apples! I couldn't find fresh figs...may have to try it with apples
ReplyDeleteI used apples too! I didn't have the time to search for figs so I just used what I had on hand! Your cake looks great!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic. I could not find a fresh fig anywhere, so I skipped, but obviously apples would have been a great choice, too.
ReplyDeleteYummo! Caramel apple sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteThis looks SO moist and delicious! awesome job, Tia :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, what is TWD?
I have never tasted a fresh fig, just a few things like Fig Newtons and I had some baked in a tart once.
ReplyDeleteYour carmelized apple cake looks like a great idea!
Fresh figs are great but caramel apple looks like an amazing substitute. The top of the cake looks insane.
ReplyDeleteYou just stick to your principles - even though it's kind of funny to avoid figs :o]. I know somebody who has never tasted eggs. He asks everybody what they taste like but nobody can give an answer - so he thinks he might not miss much. Thanks for baking with me this week and finding a way to adapt the cake to your preferences!
ReplyDeletethis looks so good but please go try a fresh fig! I had my first last month and they are so good :)
